📢 City of Ekurhuleni Job Creation Opportunities (6-Month Contracts)
The City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) invites applications from suitably qualified, unemployed residents to apply for a variety of six-month job creation opportunities across multiple departments. These positions are designed to provide valuable work experience, skills development, and meaningful contributions to communities within Ekurhuleni. Successful candidates will be required to specify their ward number upon application and may only apply for one position.
All positions come with a monthly stipend, and candidates must not currently be participating in any other CoE Job Creation Programme.
Available Opportunities
1. Assistant Social Worker (Ref: XREAL015)
Stipend: R5,850 per month
Requirements: Grade 12, post-matric qualification in Social Work, SACSSP registration, computer literacy.
Responsibilities: Support professional social workers with client assessments, programme development, and community empowerment initiatives while ensuring accurate record-keeping and compliance with legislation.
2. Field Worker – Learn to Swim (Ref: XREAL025)
Stipend: R3,621 per month
Requirements: Grade 10, basic first aid, physically fit, willing to work flexible hours.
Responsibilities: Facilitate daily swimming lessons, educate participants on water safety, maintain attendance records, monitor pool safety equipment, and assist with outreach activities.
3. Library Cadets (Ref: XREAL021)
Stipend: R3,621 per month
Requirements: Grade 12, ICT knowledge an advantage, prior library experience preferable.
Responsibilities: Assist with community skills programmes, library counter duties, afterschool support (homework assistance), shelving, and Saturday/holiday shifts.
4. Mechanical Assistant (Ref: XREAL020)
Stipend: R3,621 per month
Requirements: Grade 10/N2 Mechanical Engineering, mechanical workshop background.
Responsibilities: Assist with mechanical repairs, servicing, cleaning workshops, using tools, transporting equipment, reporting faults, and adhering to OHS standards.
5. Technical Assistant (Ref: XREAL014)
Stipend: R3,621 per month
Requirements: N2 Engineering, strong communication skills.
Responsibilities: Support community-based programmes, ensure governance compliance, complete safety data collection, and adhere to deadlines.
6. Supervisor (Ref: XREAL012)
Stipend: R5,850 per month
Requirements: Grade 12 with a post-matric qualification, computer literacy.
Responsibilities: Supervise field/general workers, manage attendance registers, enforce safety measures, compile progress reports, and oversee equipment.
7. Administrator (Ref: XREAL011)
Stipend: R5,850 per month
Requirements: Grade 12 with post-matric qualification, computer literacy.
Responsibilities: Manage timesheets, data capturing, administrative support, report compilation, and ensure smooth project operations.
8. Data Capturer (Ref: XREAL010)
Stipend: R3,621 per month
Requirements: Grade 10, basic computer literacy.
Responsibilities: Perform reception and clerical duties, capture and file data, archive documents, type reports, maintain compliance with SOPs, and submit activity reports.
9. Field Worker (Ref: XREAL007)
Stipend: R3,621 per month
Requirements: Grade 10, willingness to learn, flexible work approach.
Responsibilities: Conduct site and household visits, collect data, assist with generic fieldwork, cleaning, and preparation of daily/weekly/monthly reports.
General Conditions
- Applicants must be South African citizens and residents of Ekurhuleni (ward number required).
- Applicants must be unemployed at the time of application.
- Only one application per person will be considered.
- Successful candidates must be willing to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays, where required.
- Stipends vary per position and will be paid monthly.
