Purpose of the Role
The Museum Assistant plays a vital part in ensuring that the museum runs smoothly and that visitors enjoy a safe, clean, and engaging experience. From exhibition support to general upkeep, the role requires a combination of practical skills, teamwork, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
As a Museum Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
- Maintenance & Cleaning: Keeping both the inside and outside of the museum clean and presentable, ensuring a welcoming environment for visitors.
- Collections & Exhibitions Support: Assisting with moving and storing museum furniture and displays, monitoring environmental conditions in exhibition areas, and helping to set up exhibitions.
- Deliveries & Inventory: Checking deliveries of incoming orders and ensuring items are properly recorded and stored.
- Operational Support: Contributing to the day-to-day operations of the museum, ensuring the Sub-Section and Directorate function efficiently.
- Visitor Engagement: Interacting with visitors in a professional, friendly manner, answering inquiries, and ensuring a positive museum experience.
- Health & Safety: Helping to maintain the safety and security of collections, exhibits, and visitors.

- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication for engaging with the public and coordinating with staff.
- Customer Service: Professional interaction with visitors and the ability to respond to queries effectively.
