Job Purpose

The main purpose of this role is to provide efficient administrative support for the processing of capital and operational project data. This involves ensuring that all records are accurately maintained, stored, and managed in line with Johannesburg Water’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), processes, and workflows.

The Technical Administrator will play a vital role in ensuring smooth project execution by handling documentation, compliance matters, reporting, and coordination with other departments.

Key Responsibilities

Successful candidates will take on a broad range of duties, including:

  • Work Requests & Project Charters:
    Receiving, recording, and processing work requests and project charters from various departments. Managing a register to track progress and status updates.
  • Procurement Support:
    Initiating purchase requisitions for work requests, ensuring compliance with Supply Chain Management (SCM) policies, and issuing orders to relevant departments. Completing FA5 forms for procured assets and submitting documentation to Finance for capitalization.
  • File & Records Management:
    Creating and maintaining project files in line with departmental filing systems. Archiving completed files, retrieving them for auditors or project teams, and converting hard copies into digital formats for secure storage.
  • Data & Reporting:
    Preparing monthly expenditure reports on movable assets, tracking departmental expenditure to ensure it remains above 95% but within budget, and assisting in capitalisation tracking of assets.
  • Administrative Support:
    Assisting project teams with day-to-day administrative duties, initiating stationery requests, and ensuring effective resource management.

This role requires precision, accountability, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a structured and compliance-driven environment.


Qualifications & Experience

To be considered for the role, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Educational Qualification:
    National Diploma in Administration or Office Management.
  • Experience:
    At least 3 years’ experience in an office environment with proven skills in filing systems, administration, and people management.
  • Technical Skills:
    Proficiency in MS Office Packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and SAP software is essential.

This position is ideal for candidates who have a strong background in administration but also understand financial processes, compliance, and the importance of record-keeping in large-scale organizations.


Salary Package

The role comes with a basic annual salary of R319,356, which translates to approximately R26,613 per month before deductions.
