As a Retail Clothing Assistant, your main goal is to make sure the clothing department is customer-ready, visually appealing, and fully stocked at all times. You’ll play a key part in ensuring customers have a smooth shopping experience—whether that means helping them find the right size, maintaining tidy shelves, or ensuring that new stock is quickly unpacked and displayed.

🧥 Key Responsibilities

1️⃣ Merchandising & Display Standards

  • Fold, hang, size, and pack merchandise according to company visual merchandising (VM) and divisional standards.
  • Keep shelves, rails, tables, and fitting rooms neat and orderly at all times.
  • Ensure promotional displays and in-store signage are correctly placed and visually appealing.

2️⃣ Stock Handling

  • Replenish the sales floor quickly from backup stock when items sell out.
  • Assist with receiving deliveries and verifying that stock is correct.
  • Rotate stock regularly to make sure older items are sold first.
  • Identify, remove, and report any damaged or ticketless merchandise.

You’ll help keep the sales floor running smoothly by ensuring that popular items are always available and properly displayed.


3️⃣ Customer Service

  • Welcome every customer with a friendly attitude and willingness to help.
  • Assist shoppers in finding specific sizes, colours, or styles.
  • Escalate more complex questions or concerns to the supervisor or department manager.

Customer satisfaction is at the heart of this role—your professionalism and helpfulness can turn a simple visit into a great shopping experience.


4️⃣ Shrinkage Prevention & Security

  • Follow strict fitting room procedures, including accurate item counts.
  • Handle all merchandise carefully to avoid unnecessary damage or loss.
  • Stay alert and report any suspicious activities or potential theft to management.

Protecting company assets while ensuring a safe and secure shopping environment is an important part of your daily routine.


5️⃣ Hygiene & Housekeeping

  • Keep the clothing floor, fitting rooms, and backup areas clean and clutter-free.
  • Organise hangers, size cubes, and price tickets neatly.
  • Adhere to health, safety, and housekeeping regulations at all times.

Cleanliness and orderliness not only improve the shopping experience but also reflect the company’s commitment to high standards.


🤝 Key Relationships

You’ll work closely with other team members, supervisors, and store managers to ensure the department meets daily sales, presentation, and service goals. Teamwork and communication are essential to keeping the environment positive and productive.
