About the Role
As a Data Capturer, you will play a vital role in the collection, entry, and maintenance of HIV patient data. Your main responsibility will be to ensure that accurate, timely, and complete information is captured on the LYNX App — a key digital system used to manage patient data and track healthcare progress.
You will be responsible for reaching daily data capture targets, updating patient records, and assisting with the cleaning and verification of existing data to ensure that all information remains current and error-free. Data Capturers are essential in maintaining the integrity of the organisation’s monitoring and evaluation systems, which directly inform program performance and reporting.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Data Capturing and Management
- Capture all relevant HIV patient data accurately on-site using the LYNX App.
- Achieve daily targets for data entry and updates as agreed with your Line Manager.
- Maintain accurate statistics of your daily data entry activities (“data entry stats”) to support performance tracking.
- Ensure strict patient confidentiality and compliance with data protection policies at all times.
2. Data Cleaning and Reporting
- Assist with data cleaning and correction activities when necessary.
- Compile and submit daily Blitz Reports summarising progress and key findings.
- Collaborate with the broader data management team to prepare reports for the Department of Health (DoH) and PEPFAR, covering critical areas such as Voluntary Counselling and Testing (VCT), TB, PMTCT, Care, and ART.
3. Professional Development
- Take personal responsibility for ongoing learning and professional growth.
- Seek guidance from supervisors when faced with uncertainties regarding data or procedures.
- Participate in all mandatory in-house training sessions to stay up to date with evolving data management standards.
- Identify additional relevant training opportunities to improve your knowledge and skills in the field.
4. System and Team Support
- Provide temporary assistance to Monitoring & Evaluation Officers, Senior Data Capturers, and Clerks during busy periods or staff shortages.
- Support Data Managers during reporting cycles or staff absences to ensure continuity of operations.
- Collaborate actively within your team to maintain efficiency and meet reporting deadlines.

Minimum Requirements
- Matric (Grade 12).
- Post-matric certificate in Computer Literacy (including Microsoft Excel) or equivalent experience.
- Basic knowledge of HIV/AIDS and related healthcare programs.
- At least 1 year of experience in data capturing or administration.
Preferred (Desirable) Qualifications and Experience
- Post-matric diploma in Computer Literacy or equivalent qualification.
- 2 years of experience in data capturing, preferably in a healthcare or NGO environment.
