MISA is pleased to announce the availability of two (2) Accounting Clerk positions within the Financial Accounting Services department at our Head Office in Centurion. Requirements:
To qualify for this exciting opportunity, applicants must possess the following:
- Educational Qualification: A Grade 12 certificate or equivalent qualification. No prior experience is required, making this an ideal entry-level opportunity for recent graduates or those seeking to transition into public sector finance roles.
- Core Competencies: Financial Management skills are essential to ensure accurate processing of financial transactions and reporting.
- Generic Competencies: Successful candidates will demonstrate strong problem-solving and analytical abilities, client orientation, excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), and proficiency in computer applications.
- Technical Competencies: In-depth knowledge of the Public Finance Management Act, 1999 (Act No. 1 of 1999), Treasury Regulations, and familiarity with financial systems such as the Basic Accounting System (BAS), PERSAL, or VIP system is required.
Key Responsibilities:
The Accounting Clerk will perform a range of critical duties in both financial accounting services and the salaries section, including but not limited to:
Financial Accounting Services:
- Process invoices efficiently and within 30 days to ensure timely payments.
- Create debt accounts and follow up on recovery of outstanding debts owed to the department.
- Capture journals accurately on the accounting system.
- Compile and maintain cashbooks on a monthly basis.
- Conduct general ledger reconciliations to ensure all accounts are accurate.
- Perform regular filing and documentation to support financial record-keeping.
Salaries Section Duties:
- Process employee payroll accurately and on schedule.
- Perform employee tax reconciliations to ensure compliance with tax regulations.
- Process third-party pay-overs efficiently.
- Manage travel and subsistence claims in accordance with policy guidelines.
- Maintain organized filing systems for all payroll-related documentation.
