🌍 About the Opportunity

The City of Johannesburg is calling on motivated, hardworking, and reliable individuals to join the JPC Facilities Cleaning team. These are short-term EPWP positions that provide valuable work experience to unemployed residents while contributing to the cleanliness, maintenance, and upkeep of municipal facilities.

The Johannesburg Property Company (JPC) is responsible for managing and maintaining the City’s property portfolio, including public buildings, offices, parks, and other municipal facilities. As part of the EPWP initiative, the JPC is offering cleaning positions to help ensure these facilities remain clean, safe, and welcoming for residents and visitors alike.

This initiative supports the City’s broader goals of job creation, poverty alleviation, and community upliftment, while also encouraging participants to develop a strong work ethic and practical skills that can open doors to future employment opportunities.


🧽 Duties and Responsibilities

As a JPC Facilities Cleaner, your day-to-day duties may include:

  • Sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing floors in municipal buildings and facilities.
  • Cleaning windows, walls, furniture, and equipment to maintain hygiene standards.
  • Emptying bins and ensuring waste is properly sorted and disposed of.
  • Maintaining cleanliness in restrooms, corridors, and public areas.
  • Reporting any maintenance or repair issues to supervisors.
  • Following all safety and hygiene protocols.
  • Assisting with basic maintenance or gardening tasks when required.

This role requires energy, commitment, and a willingness to work both indoors and outdoors as part of a dynamic cleaning and maintenance team.
