The Garden Route National Park is a breathtaking stretch of protected coastal forest, marine areas, and mountain ranges that attract visitors from across the world. The Tsitsikamma Section, famous for its lush indigenous forest, rugged coastline, and adventure activities like the Storms River Suspension Bridge and snorkeling, is a jewel within the park.
As a Gate Administrator, you will be the face of the park — greeting visitors, managing access, and ensuring that every guest’s experience begins and ends with professionalism and warmth.


💼 Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this exciting opportunity, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • A Grade 12 certificate (Standard 10) or equivalent qualification.
  • 1–2 years’ experience in a similar front-office, customer service, or gate administration role.
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and at least two other official languages commonly spoken in the Western Cape.

Added advantages include:

  • A National Diploma in Tourism or Hotel Management.
  • A Certificate in Security Service or related field.

⚙️ Key Responsibilities

As a Gate Administrator, your role will include a combination of administrative, security, and customer service duties designed to maintain efficiency and enhance guest satisfaction. Your responsibilities will include:

Welcoming Visitors: Greet and assist guests in a friendly, professional manner upon their arrival, ensuring they feel valued and informed.
Access Control: Register all guests, staff, and suppliers entering or exiting the park, while maintaining accurate and secure records.
Security & Safety: Support the safety and well-being of guests and staff by maintaining vigilance and adhering to security protocols.
Guest Information: Provide visitors with accurate and helpful information about park facilities, activities, accommodation options, and loyalty programs such as the Wild Card.
Traffic Direction: Manage and direct the smooth flow of vehicles and visitors through the park’s entrance and exit gates.
Financial Transactions: Process payments, issue receipts, and balance cash takings daily according to SANParks’ financial policies and procedures.
Administration: Keep daily statistics and logs, handle telephonic and in-person inquiries, and ensure messages are relayed promptly and accurately.
After-Hours Support: Assist guests with after-hours queries and direct their requests to the appropriate departments.
Professional Conduct: Adhere to SANParks’ dress code, uphold the organization’s image, and deliver service excellence at all times.

This is a hands-on role that requires someone who can handle multiple tasks efficiently, remains calm under pressure, and works well both independently and as part of a team.


💰 Salary and Benefits

The remuneration package is aligned with SANParks’ Paterson B2 job grade, offering a competitive basic salary and additional allowances and benefits as outlined in the organization’s HR Tariff Document and Conditions of Service.

Appointment will be made in line with SANParks’ Employment Equity (EE) Plan, ensuring fair and inclusive recruitment practices.
