These positions are based at the offices of the Minister and the Deputy Minister in Pretoria. 📘 Minimum Requirements

To qualify, applicants must have:

  • Grade 10 Certificate or ABET qualification (Adult Basic Education and Training).
  • A valid driver’s licence (essential).
  • Basic literacy and communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Knowledge of the Pretoria area or surrounding cities where duties will be performed.
  • The ability to work under pressure, follow instructions, and function as part of a team.

No previous experience is specifically required, but experience in a similar role will be an added advantage.


🧰 Key Duties and Responsibilities

As a Driver/Messenger, your role will involve more than just driving. You will play an important part in helping the department run smoothly. Duties include:

  • Safely driving light and medium vehicles to transport passengers, documents, and small items.
  • Delivering and collecting mail, documents, office equipment, and other departmental materials.
  • Maintaining and inspecting the assigned vehicle daily (pre- and post-trip checks) to ensure it is always roadworthy and clean.
  • Reporting any defects or problems with the vehicle promptly to the supervisor.
  • Recording all trips accurately in the vehicle logbook, including official trips, destinations, and daily mileage.
  • Ensuring safe handling and control of documents and materials during transport.
  • Assisting with registry and administrative functions, such as filing, photocopying, and faxing.
  • Supporting internal staff and ensuring smooth communication between offices.
