Employees in this role act as a bridge between departments, service providers, and affected employees — ensuring that all injury-on-duty claims are properly processed, tracked, and resolved in compliance with relevant legal and procedural requirements.
Key Responsibilities
As an Admin Assistant: COID Claims, you will perform essential functions that keep the City’s administrative processes running smoothly. Your core duties will include:
- Administering injury-on-duty (IOD) claims in line with COID regulations and internal policies. This involves gathering documentation, liaising with medical service providers, and maintaining accurate records.
- Facilitating effective communication between all stakeholders — including employees, managers, and external service providers — to keep everyone informed about claim statuses, progress updates, and outcomes.
- Supporting pension administration, particularly during the annual pension increase cycles, to ensure that all beneficiaries receive accurate and timely updates.
- Assisting in the processing of payments for service providers, ensuring all financial documentation and verification steps are properly completed.
- Maintaining and updating registers for auditing and record-keeping purposes, contributing to transparency and compliance within the department.
This role is crucial in ensuring that employees who experience workplace injuries or occupational diseases receive fair and timely compensation, while also upholding the City’s commitment to accountability and administrative excellence.
Minimum Requirements
To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Educational Qualification: Matric or a relevant NQF Level 4 qualification is required.
- Experience: At least two (2) years of administrative experience within a structured office environment.
- Added Advantage: Possession of a COID Certificate will strengthen your application.
- Skills: Strong computer literacy, attention to detail, and the ability to manage sensitive information with discretion.
