About the Role

The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) is seeking a capable and motivated individual to fill the position of Administrator – Cellphone Office within the Mobile Communications, Postal & Courier Services unit. This role is key to ensuring efficient administration, customer service, and operational management of mobile communications and courier functions across the organisation.

The successful candidate will play an essential role in managing SIM cards, modems, data devices, and mobile communication services for staff. This position also requires interaction with service providers, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.


Key Purpose

To provide administrative and customer service support to the Mobile Communications Unit by processing device applications, managing billing and courier services, maintaining databases, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations in line with SABC policies.


Main Responsibilities

Operational Efficiency

  • Process and issue new applications for data cards, SIM cards, modems, cellphones, and tablets to qualifying staff members.
  • Manage postal and courier services (incoming and outgoing) and arrange deliveries of communication devices to provincial offices.
  • Issue data cards to users from various service providers such as MTN, Vodacom, Telkom, and Cell C.
  • Provide information and assistance to walk-in clients and telephone queries about billing and cellphone usage.
  • Process cancellations and sponsored billing line terminations when employees leave the organisation.
  • Compile and maintain monthly reports on high-usage users for internal monitoring.
  • Process and record all device applications both manually and through the SAP system.
  • Request and reconcile itemised billing statements from service providers.
  • Manage and process monthly payments for all mobile and data service providers.
  • Maintain accurate databases of all devices and contracts.

Stakeholder Management

  • Communicate effectively and professionally with both internal departments and external service providers.
  • Handle queries, complaints, and requests from clients in a friendly and efficient manner.
  • Provide customer service to users regarding new line applications, SIM swaps, upgrades, contract renewals, cancellations, repairs, and roaming services.
  • Build strong working relationships with staff, management, and service provider representatives.
  • Assist in audit processes by providing accurate data and documentation related to the cellphone office.

Governance, Risk & Compliance

  • Follow all SABC policies, standard operating procedures, and compliance regulations.
  • Adhere to departmental rules, cellphone office guidelines, and administrative standards.
  • Maintain confidentiality and accuracy in all record-keeping and communication.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications:

  • A National Diploma or Certificate in Office Administration (or equivalent qualification).

Experience:

  • 1 to 2 years of experience in an administrative or office support environment.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Working knowledge of SAP systems or similar enterprise software.
  • Excellent computer literacy, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of SABC administrative policies, rules, and communication procedures.
  • Good customer service skills and professional telephone etiquette.
  • Ability to compile accurate reports and maintain databases.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
