As a Driver Messenger, you will be responsible for transporting documents, goods, equipment, and other materials to and from various internal and external departments. The role supports the smooth day-to-day functioning of the city’s administration by ensuring that deliveries are handled efficiently, safely, and punctually.

This job goes beyond simply driving — the position requires organisational skills, respect for confidentiality, and the ability to maintain municipal vehicles according to required standards. You will be the link that keeps communication and logistics flowing smoothly between departments.

📘 Minimum Requirements

Before applying, make sure you meet the following criteria:

  • Grade 12 qualification
  • Valid C1 driver’s licence with PrDP
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience in driving or delivery-related duties

Your everyday tasks in this role will include:

  • Delivering and collecting items such as documents, equipment, and goods from different municipal offices and external partners.
  • Loading and offloading materials with care, ensuring nothing is damaged or misplaced.
  • Maintaining strict confidentiality, especially when handling sensitive municipal documents.
  • Ensuring all tasks meet the highest quality and safety standards, contributing to efficient service delivery.
  • Planning and organising daily routes to maximise productivity and ensure timely deliveries.
  • Maintaining the allocated vehicle, including cleaning, checking for faults, and ensuring the vehicle is always road-worthy.
  • Reporting accidents or incidents immediately, following the city’s loss control procedures.
  • Adhering to all organisational policies, procedures, and fleet management guidelines to ensure smooth operations.

🚘 Vehicle Care & Fleet Compliance

A key part of this role includes ensuring that the vehicle assigned to you is always in excellent condition. This means checking that the municipal vehicle is serviced regularly, kept clean, and used responsibly. Fleet management principles must be followed at all times, ensuring compliance with municipal standards.
