Location: Table Mountain National Park

Table Mountain National Park is offering an exciting opportunity for three (3) Fixed-Term Data Capturers to join the team on a six-month contract. These roles are ideal for individuals who are detail-oriented, passionate about conservation support work, and eager to contribute to one of South Africa’s most iconic protected areas. The positions require dedicated professionals who can work under pressure, manage sensitive information with precision, and actively support operational and law-enforcement teams within the park.

These positions form part of the broader operational structure, providing essential support in collecting, capturing, analysing, and managing data that improves the park’s readiness and responsiveness. ✨ KEY REQUIREMENTS

To qualify for this opportunity, candidates must meet the following minimum criteria:

Academic Qualifications

  • Grade 12 (Matric) or NCV Level 4 qualification.

Experience

  • 1–2 years of relevant data capturing or administrative experience.

Technical Knowledge

  • Strong working knowledge of legislation related to conservation and environmental protection, including:
    • NEM: Protected Areas Act
    • National Heritage Resources Act
    • NEM: Biodiversity Act
    • Criminal Procedure Act
    • Integrated Coastal Management Act
    • Marine Living Resources Act
    • Public Finance Management Act
  • Intermediate to advanced computer literacy is essential, particularly in:
    • MS Word
    • MS Excel
    • MS PowerPoint
    • (Computer assessments will be conducted)

Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and technical mindset.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good organisational and time-management abilities.

Added Advantages

While not mandatory, the following will strengthen an applicant’s profile:

  • Environmental Management Inspector (EMI) designation.
  • Working knowledge of ArcGIS or QGIS mapping software.
  • Valid Code 8 driver’s license.

🛠️ RESPONSIBILITIES

The Data Capturers will play a central role in operational support and information management. Core duties will include:

  • Capturing data from multiple sources onto Cmore and other specialised platforms used in park operations.
  • Assisting in the analysis of data to support both proactive and reactive law-enforcement initiatives.
  • Ensuring accurate, consistent, and reliable information management processes.
  • Monitoring technology and surveillance feeds in the Operations Room.
  • Supporting operational control systems and contributing to safety and security planning.
  • Capturing and updating information onto relevant databases and software systems.
  • Logging reports and forwarding critical information from the Operations Room to field operators.
  • Assisting the Operations Room Control Officer with logistical coordination and deployment of SEAM teams when required.
  • Engaging with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth communication and collaboration.
  • Providing administrative and procurement support to the operational unit.
  • Assisting with internal training initiatives when needed.

These duties require individuals who are adaptable, observant, and able to handle sensitive operational information while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times.


📊 SALARY INFORMATION

The position falls under Paterson Grade B3, with a remuneration package that includes a basic salary and applicable allowances in line with SANParks Conditions of Service.
