🧹 JOB SUMMARY
The successful candidates appointed as General Cleaners will be responsible for providing effective, efficient, and high-quality cleaning services across the Parliamentary precinct. This role is essential in ensuring that workspaces, public areas, and common facilities meet the required cleanliness, hygiene, and health and safety standards.
Clean, well-maintained environments are crucial for the productivity, safety, and dignity of Members of Parliament, staff, visitors, and the public. As a General Cleaner, your contribution will directly support the daily operations of Parliament.
✅ KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Successful applicants will be expected to perform the following duties:
- Cleaning of office and occupant spaces, including workstations and assigned areas
- Cleaning of public spaces and common areas, such as corridors, restrooms, meeting rooms, and other shared facilities
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety standards at all times
- Using cleaning materials, equipment, and machinery correctly and responsibly
- Following cleaning schedules, instructions, and workplace procedures
- Reporting hazards, damages, or safety concerns to supervisors
🎓 MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Minimum education: Grade 10
- Advantage: Grade 11 or a relevant equivalent NQF Level 3 qualification
- Experience: At least 2 years of relevant cleaning experience
🧠 REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
Applicants should be able to demonstrate the following skills and abilities:
- Ability to read, write, and follow instructions and cleaning schedules
- Flexibility and the ability to adapt easily to changes
- Willingness to work flexible hours and shifts when required
- Knowledge of occupational health and safety standards related to cleaning
- Knowledge of office and commercial cleaning processes and procedures
- Experience in using industrial cleaning machines and equipment, such as vacuum cleaners and carpet cleaners
- Strong sense of responsibility, attention to detail, and professionalism
