Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Minimum Grade 10 or equivalent qualification
  • No experience required
  • Must be able to read and write
  • Willingness and ability to work shifts
  • Good communication skills
  • Good customer care skills
  • Ability to work well in a team as well as independently
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • General knowledge of laundry services and sewing will be an added advantage

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of laundry-related duties, including but not limited to the following:

  • Collecting soiled linen from hospital wards
  • Sorting, counting, sluicing, recording, and packing linen into designated linen bags
  • Receiving clean linen from Dunswart Laundry
  • Counting, recording, and packing clean linen neatly on shelves
  • Distributing clean linen to various departments within the hospital
  • Ensuring that linen rooms in wards are clean, orderly, and well-stocked
  • Maintaining correct stock levels of linen at all times
  • Mending torn linen where necessary
  • Conducting a linen inventory twice a year
  • Performing all laundry-related duties as delegated by the Supervisor
  • Adhering to hospital hygiene, safety, and operational standards

These responsibilities require attention to detail, physical stamina, and a strong sense of responsibility, as the cleanliness of linen directly affects patient safety and comfort.
