announcement regarding the Department of Tourism’s call for applications to appoint thirty volunteers for the Tourism Safety Monitor Program. Applications from those with impairments are also encouraged.

For a 12-month duration, the Department of Tourism is now accepting applications from qualified individuals to be a part of the Tourism Monitors Program.It is advised for candidates to limit their application submissions to local and residential municipalities and companies.Please be advised that those who are selected for the position will be required to sign a 12-month contract with the service provider who will be chosen by the Department of Tourism and assigned to the locations/attractions closest to their homes.Twelve months will pass during the program’s implementation: three months will be devoted to theory training and nine months to practical training.

Requirements

  • own a certified copy of an identity document and be a citizen of South Africa;
  • be young people without jobs, aged 18 to 35;
  • hold a matriculation certificate or any other comparable credentials;
  • possess literacy and fluency in English;
  • Additional credentials in the tourism or environmental sectors will be beneficial;
  • keep within a 40–50 km radius around the monuments and attractions.It will be necessary to provide proof of residency, such as a municipal bill, a letter from a tribe official, or a ward council member;
  • possess the ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, public holidays, and as needed;
  • adore or are interested in the travel and tourism industry;
  • Own dependable transportation to and from the job site or station is a must.

Please Note

  • No household may have more than one (1) learner.
  • Affidavits of residency will not be recognized.
  • The candidates who made the short list will have interviews in the locations closest to their homes. Prior to being admitted into the program, the selected applicants will have their criminal records cleared and their health examined.
  • Note: Only the candidates who have been shortlisted will get correspondence. After three (3) months of the application deadline, if you have not heard from us, kindly acknowledge that your application was not accepted.
  • The Department retains the right to stop the training at any time.
