PURPOSE
Help the Supervisor in all physical tasks related to the everyday management of all wastewater treatment operations. to uphold a clean and safe workplace, as well as to make sure that the National Water Act, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and the terms of the water usage license are being followed.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Help clean tanks by manually moving trash into solid waste containers with rakes and spades. Using brooms, clean the weirs on tanks. Help clear the center boxes and tank walls of weeds and trash. Remove the disinfectant tanks to help with cleaning. settled mud in a physical sense. aid with routine maintenance and operations. help with regular operational needs. Report any device malfunctions. Sludge spills should be cleaned up by sweeping with brooms and placing the debris in solid waste receptacles. help with routine maintenance and operations. help with regular operational needs. For mechanical removal, manually remove the dried sludge from the sludge drying beds. routine cleaning of restrooms, locker rooms, and offices. regular cleaning of the working spaces and pump stations. Assist in keeping the workplace tidy and secure. After spills and malfunctions, tidy up the workspace. When necessary, provide a hand with general physical labor to guarantee that the work complies with applicable laws and requirements. Occasionally lend a hand with scheduled team process controller tasks involving initiatives to address non-compliances. Encourage safety by reporting to the supervisor any unsafe equipment or working situations as soon as possible. Observe the supervisors’ directions regarding the disaster management strategy. Follow the supervisor’s directions and operate and complete all tasks within the OHASA’s specified statutory criteria. PPE should be worn and used properly.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Essential qualifications and experience:
- Grade 10 with Mathematics and Science or NTC 1 in Wastewater Treatment Practice or core unit standard from NQF 3 qualification in wastewater
OR - Grade 11 with Mathematics or Science or NTC II in wastewater Treatment practice or NQF 3 in wastewater practice
OR - Matric with Mathematics and Science (NQF 4)
- Enrollment in the Trainee Process Controller Program
- one year of experience as a general worker
- Basic understanding of workplace occupational health and safety
