JOHANNESBURG WATER | GENERAL WORKERS

Attend to general physical work as requested by the immediate supervisor or management

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform manual labor and basic duties at all Johannesburg Water locations under the Electrical Support Section’s supervision.
• Every day, help supervisors with their general duties.
• Flooded places should be pumped out.
• Every day, clean Johannesburg Water’s assets, including its warehouses, telemetry I CP enclosures, fleet, and equipment.
• Every day, load and unload equipment.
• Every week, sort and store items in a clean, safe, and organized way.
• When necessary, conduct inventory counts.
• As needed, replace the batteries (either discharge them and then recharge them or swap them out for fresh ones).
• Clear road and walkways (grass cutting I weeding and shrubbery cutting) to and around bunkers.
• Test posts and enclosures as and when required.
• When necessary, trench, sleeve, and lay wires and inspection boxes.
• Every month, different equipment, such as plug outlets, lighting, fencing, etc., is visually inspected.
• Help with the equipment installation.
• When necessary, include level sensors.
• Help with the site’s new lighting installation. and swap out malfunctioning lights as needed.
• Every month, help the supervisor inspect the fire extinguishers on the property.
• Encourage workplace safety by promptly fixing hazardous working conditions and making sure that any issues, flaws, or nonconformities are brought to the attention of the supervisor right away.
• Operate and complete all tasks in accordance with the OHS Act’s legislative requirements, the supervisor’s instructions, and those of all other management.
• Participate in and attend all Toolbox Talk sessions as well as any other meetings pertaining to safety that may be called.
• Make sure that any appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) given by Johannesburg Water, such as safety boots and overalls, is worn at all times while working and is used as intended. a safety harness and gumboots.

Essential qualification and experience

• Grade 9
• One (1) year general working experience
