JOHANNESBURG WATER | METER READER (X7 POSTS)

Make certain that every metre is read with a high degree of integrity, accuracy, and consistency.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Verify the daily charting of manually spread sheets, GIS maps, and data on electronic devices in addition to walling routes.
• Inform the senior meter reader of any route irregularities you discover on the spot or any need for reordering.
• Using the location, GIS, and meter number, precisely identify the pertinent water meter to confirm its legitimacy.
• Determine the new meter or switch meters, then record the information appropriately.
• Make sure the data that was manually recorded is submitted.
• Conduct daily route-specific revisits for no access codes previously obtained.
• As needed, perform data cleansing operations on meter master data, unbilled properties, unmetered properties, and initial property consumption data on questioners, among other data.
• Give clients advice on how to find leaks and other actions that can help cut down on water waste or expensive bills caused by hidden leaks.
• Using the appropriate code, note the following customer service issues while on the way: burst or leaking water meters, burst or leaking pipes, damaged or clogged sewer pipes, or problems with external utilities.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Essential qualifications and experience:

• Grade 12 (NQF 4).
• Must have two years of experience reading meters on a periodic basis in a municipal setting.
• Needs to be well-versed in the technique of reading meters.
