Introduction

At Life St. Dominic’s Hospital, there is a position open for an Admissions Clerk. This person will work under Lindsey du Preez, the Patient Services Admissions Supervisor.

Critical Outputs

  • Keep the admissions area organized, professional, and patient-focused.
  • Control the admissions process’ correctness and take steps to eliminate any possible risk factors.
  • Working directly with credit controllers, case managers, receptionists, and physicians fosters synergy and teamwork.
  • communicating with medical assistance to secure admittance authorization
  • Control the risk for the hospital by following all relevant guidelines.
  • Make sure that every patient receives high-quality care.
  • Switchboard operation
  • helping with reservations for beds as needed.
  • Banking experience is required for daily banking tasks, receipting, and handling money.
  • obtaining co-payments, any applicable private fees, and the necessary paperwork.
  • carrying out general administrative tasks related to patient pre-admission.
  • Billing and account release for A&E.
  • Account inquiries.
  • When needed, offer assistance with the confirmation procedure.
  • Help with the tasks that the line manager assigns you.
  • following the policies of the department, business, and hospital.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 and computer literacy is essential.
  • outstanding communication skills both in writing and speaking.
  • Understanding Imeds and Impilo is beneficial.
  • a driven, enthusiastic, well-organized person who can take initiative and manage pressure.
  • able to work overtime and day or night shifts as needed. Need to focus on providing customer service
  • A prerequisite is having excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Collaboration is vital.
  • It would be helpful to have prior expertise with medical terminology and admissions.
  • It would be advantageous to have knowledge of the difficulties and key actors in the private healthcare sector.
