Introduction

At Life Flora Hospital, there is a position open for an Admission Clerk who will report to Sonja Rossouw, Admission Supervisor.By facilitating efficient operations and providing assistance in providing high-quality patient care, the chosen applicant will help ensure that patient services operate at their best.

Critical Outputs

  • appropriately and professionally welcome, orienting, and announcing patients.
  • Be prepared to hear any consumer complaints, offer assistance, and take appropriate action.
  • carrying out general administrative tasks related to patient admission.
  • Oversee the precision of the admissions procedure and the avoidance of possible risk factors.
  • Help patients fill out the papers for admission information.
  • Accurately record patient information and procedures.
  • scanning papers, such as medical assistance cards and referral letters, into the system.
  • Scheduling patients for special procedures and, if required, providing patients and units with pre-examination requirements.
  • Verify permission for certain procedures.
  • answering the phone, addressing questions, or referring them to the appropriate person.
  • Oversee reception payments and, if necessary, patient account billing.
  • knowing the status of the patients in the waiting room, such as whether the examination is finished and they are awaiting findings, etc.
  • Make sure all required measures and infection prevention principles are followed; provide a clean, safe, and sanitary atmosphere.
  • Encourage a cordial rapport between hospital employees, patients, and receptionists.
  • acting as a relief operator for the switchboard.

Requirements

  • Grade 12
  • Experience as a receptionist and in general administration
  • It will be beneficial to know hospital protocols and medical jargon.
  • Understanding and utilizing patient administration policies, procedures, and systems
  • It is crucial to be computer literate and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
