Introduction

A vacancy exists for a Porter, based at Life Mount Edgecombe Hospital reporting to Jeniffer Maharaj, Theatre Unit Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring delivery of uncompromising quality care in line with Company strategic objectives and applicable Health /Nursing legislation.

Critical Outputs

Interaction with clients in a professional manner

Move patients between the wards and the main theater and vice versa.
Help patients when they are admitted or discharged with their luggage.
Wheelchairs should be inspected for cleanliness and potential maintenance needs to ensure they remain in good operating order.

Help create photocopies for work-related documents, patient files, and folders.
Memos and documentation are distributed to the wards, doctor’s offices, and other allied health workers.

Requirements

Matric – Grade 12
a proactive, driven, punctual, organized person who can take initiative and manage pressure.
Must be able to work overtime and day or night shifts as needed.

Must have a focus on customer service.
bilingual and proficiency in written and spoken English as well as the capacity for successful communication.
the capacity to help large patients get into and out of cars or wheelchairs and push them.

It would be desirable to have prior experience transporting sick or disabled patients and working in a hospital setting.
It would be advantageous to have knowledge of the difficulties and key actors in the private healthcare sector.
