REQUIREMENTS
- Matric or equivalent NQF 3 qualification Fire fighter 1 & 2 Hazmat Awareness.
- An advantage would be having completed the Basic Ambulance Course or First Aid Level 3 (both registered with the HPCSA).
- Driver’s license with code C.
- physically and medically capable of performing operational duties.
- A swimmer is a must.
- Candidates must not have any phobias, such as claustrophobia or acrophobia.
- An extra advantage would be fire and rescue experience or knowledge.
- a diligent and disciplined individual.
- Experience from a three-month internship will be advantageous.
DUTIES
- executing regular assignments and station officer directions.
- arriving at work on time.
- vehicle and equipment testing and inspection.
- vehicle and equipment cleaning.
- reporting any problems to the on-duty police officer.
- Respond to incidents with senior staff to aid in fighting fires.
- following orders on scenes.
- fighting grass, forest, and building fires.
- defending equipment used in fighting flames as well as property.
- assisting with tasks in the control room as needed.
- any additional work delegated by their boss.
- rescue efforts.
