Purpose:

accountable for operating a passenger-carrying vehicle, such as a big passenger vehicle, in order to protect the public, themselves, and their passengers.

Brief Description

Key responsibilities include the following:

  • Operating a vehicle or bus in compliance with the National Road Traffic Act
  • To ensure, among other things, that the following are met in order to assess the state of the car before servicing it. Executing the safety walk round check, which includes checks before and after a journey
  • Finishing the trip log by opening and closing the kilometers for each journey or route
  • To operate the designated vehicles in a way that is lawful, safe, and competent.
  • When it’s safe to do so, to adhere to the designated schedule rather than leaving early or late.
  • To make sure that the traffic laws are followed on public highways and in unusual situations when it comes to bus depots and bus stations.
  • Must always wear the correct uniforms when on duty
  • Interact with clients in an efficient and polished manner.
  • To offer each and every stakeholder a courteous, professional, and amiable service.
  • Making sure the car is organized and clean before setting off on a journey or trip
  • Report busses or cars that aren’t fit for usage on the road.
  • Report any equipment or vehicle defects to the operations controller as soon as you can, and make sure your report is turned in when your trip is over.
  • Prompt reporting of COF and vehicle license expiration
  • Fulfill any legal and reasonable obligations imposed by SHEQ and OHS
  • To guarantee that all emergency and evacuation plans and procedures are well understood.
  • Recognize the university’s emergency fire procedures and health and safety policy.
  • Ensure that risks and safety hazards are recognized and promptly reported to the operations manager.
  • Show up to safety and compliance conferences.

Requirements:

  • Matric
  • At least three years of continuous bus passenger driving experience
  • An EC1 (0,4) or EC driver’s license code in valid
  • Permit for Professional Driving (PrDP)
